Interested in joining the band at The Chapel?

We’d love to help you explore whether the band might be a good fit. Here’s what serving looks like, how the audition process works, and everything you’ll need to get started.

What to Expect

Sunday Mornings

The band arrives by 6:50pm to set up, soundcheck, and rehearse together. We lead worship during all three services, with the final service ending around 12:30pm.

A Healthy Rotation

Serving should be life-giving, not something that leaves you running on empty. Some band members serve on a regular rotation, while others serve as fill-ins when a need comes up. Scheduling depends on the needs of the team and each person’s availability. We’ll work with you to find a rhythm that leaves room for the rest of your life.

A Culture of Growth

You don’t need to have everything figured out before you join. We want to keep growing together as followers of Jesus, as musicians, and as a team. That means coming prepared, being open to feedback, and offering the same encouragement and grace we hope to receive from one another.

How to Audition

1. Tell us about yourself and submit a video.

Start by filling out the audition application. Then, record a video of yourself singing or playing through a song. Your video doesn’t need to be polished or professionally produced. A simple phone recording is perfect. Just make sure we can see you clearly and hear what you’re playing or singing. You’re welcome to use one of the songs from the Audition Materials section below, or choose another song you feel represents you well.

2. Meet us for an in-person audition.

After our team reviews your application and video, we’ll reach out about next steps. If you’re invited to an in-person audition, we’ll connect with you about scheduling the date for your audition. Your audition will include the three songs listed in the Audition Materials section below. We may not ask you to perform every song from beginning to end, but please come ready to play or sing any portion of all three. We know auditions can feel a little intimidating. Our goal isn’t to create a high-pressure performance. It’s a chance to get to know you, hear you sing or play, see how we work together, and determine whether this team is the best fit for your serving here at The Chapel!

Preparing for your in-person audition:
Use the charts, recordings, and rehearsal tracks below to prepare for your audition (they're specific to each position you're auditioning for). Part of the audition will involve playing or singing along to a click/metronome and the provided tracks, so please bring wired headphones or in-ear monitors with a standard 3.5 mm connection.
What to bring:
• Vocalists: Just bring yourself. We’ll provide the microphone.
• Drummers: Bring your sticks. A full drum kit will be provided.
• Keyboardists: A keyboard will be provided.
• Guitarists: Bring your guitar, pedalboard or preferred rig, and any other gear you normally use.
• Orchestral and other instrumentalists: Bring your instrument. We’ll take care of getting you connected or mic’d.

What happens afterward?

We record each audition so our team can review it thoughtfully together. Afterward, we’ll follow up with feedback and let you know what the next step looks like. Sometimes that means joining a regular rotation or serving as a fill-in. Other times, we may suggest a season of development or another place to serve. Either way, we want the process to be encouraging, honest, and helpful. We’re so glad you are interested in serving Jesus here at The Chapel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I audition with an orchestral instrument?

Absolutely. We’re happy to hear from string, brass, woodwind, and other instrumentalists, even if that instrument isn’t part of the band every Sunday.
Opportunities may depend on the songs and services we’re planning, but we’d love to learn more about you and what you play.

What if I’m interested but not sure I’m ready?

That’s completely okay. You don’t need to decide whether you’re “good enough” before reaching out. That’s part of what the process helps us discover together. Send us your application and video, and then take a deep breath. If you've got more growing to do before you should be up there on a Sunday, we will tell you that honestly and offer some encouraging next steps toward growth on your musical journey.

Do I need to be a member of The Chapel?

You don’t need to be a member to begin the conversation or audition. Because the band helps lead our church in worship, those who join the team should be actively involved at The Chapel and aligned with our beliefs, values, and approach to ministry. We’ll be glad to talk through what that means during the process.

What if I’d like to audition for vocals and an instrument?

That is awesome! Go ahead and tell us that on the form and show us that on your video, and we will work out with you the details of how that affects your in-person audition if you are selected to move forward with one!

Ready to get started?

We’d love to hear from you.
